Research profile
Growth-hormone release and ghrelin receptor signalling
Preclinical pharmacology and human phase 2 research
What it is and why it is studied
Ipamorelin is a synthetic five-residue peptide investigated as a growth-hormone secretagogue. Ipamorelin is of interest for studying how growth-hormone release can be stimulated through the ghrelin-receptor pathway. Its early pharmacology work examined the selectivity of that response, while later studies investigated gastrointestinal motility.
What studies have found
Foundational experiments in rat pituitary cells, rats and pigs reported growth-hormone release and investigated selectivity relative to other hormones. A later phase 2 postoperative trial did not find significant improvements in its main or secondary gastrointestinal-recovery outcomes.
Together, these studies distinguish measurable receptor and hormone activity from demonstrated clinical benefit. They do not establish muscle-gain, sleep or training-recovery effects in people.

Chemical information describes the named reference structure, not a batch analysis or confirmation of the material supplied. Counterions, water and excipients are excluded unless stated.
Understanding these details
A sequence describes the order of residues in a peptide. A molecular formula describes the atoms in the reference structure. Molar mass is expressed in grams per mole; it is not the amount in a vial. CAS numbers and PubChem identifiers help you find the corresponding chemical records.
Selected literature and reference information checked 11 September 2026. Study findings concern the preparations and models described; they do not certify this product. For laboratory research only.
